Frequently Asked Questions

What is LINEGUARD?

LINEGUARD is a bird deterrent device designed primarily for powerboats. It includes 50 feet of retractable webbing used to create a customized protected zone that is guarded against birds landing and fouling your boat.

How does LINEGUARD work?

When the LINEGUARD webbing is deployed to create a protected zone, birds see and avoid the highly visible webbing. When LINEGUARD is not in use, the webbing retracts back into its housing for quick and easy stowage.

What materials is LINEGUARD made from?

LINEGUARD is built with marine-grade materials. The housing is a UV-stabilized ABS/PC composite, the spring is SUS 301 stainless steel, and the webbing is high-tenacity PU-coated polyester with a 300+ lbf tensile strength.

Can I leave LINEGUARD mounted while my boat is moving?

Yes, provided the webbing is fully retracted into the housing. LINEGUARD is also compact enough to remove and stow when preferred.

Does LINEGUARD work on all bird species?

LINEGUARD is designed for larger birds such as seagulls and cormorants. Smaller birds, including sparrows, may still be able to land in some areas, although they typically do not create the same level of mess.

Does LINEGUARD require maintenance?

LINEGUARD does not require regular maintenance. Should the unit become submerged in salt water, rinse it thoroughly with fresh water to help prevent salt buildup.

Is LINEGUARD waterproof?

LINEGUARD is splash-resistant but not fully waterproof. Should it become submerged, rinse it with fresh water and allow it to dry thoroughly.
